347-348 Hang gliding & Afternoons at the Park

Seurat’s painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” reminds me of spring…it snowed pretty steady all night, and most of the day today. If someone were spray paint the glass panes of my window white I probably wouldn’t notice. Thats what you see when you look out…just white.

So I wanted to bring some spring into my home !I bought flowers and a plant at Trader Joe’s today! I love that place. The food is so inexpensive, I feel like I’m playing some weird game with myself when I shop there… Lets see how much food I can toss in the cart and try brake over the $100 dollar mark. Today I only hit $70, that place is so damn cheap. My cupboards/freezer are so full! I always feel like I robbed the store. I like to buy pre made frozen food for the freezer for my lazy days?( I know how to cook I swear!) I just throw any old thing in the cart when i’m in that section. I don’t even look half the time. I haven’t found anything gross yet. Thats how I discovered Cowgirl bark its white chocolate with cranberries, pieces of ginger snaps,pretzels, peanuts ,almonds, and I think pieces of rice cake…addictive! I would never in my right mind play this sick game in a another grocery store, because the clerk at the register would have to take items out so I could pay the bill…  and then I would have to slink out of there in embarrassment ! lol  I don’t have the bank account for that game! Any how here is Todays Prince & The Original Seurat Painting!

344 Self Portraits

Twenty One Left to Go!

I was texting with my boyfriend (the very handsome Kurt) earlier today, and I was trying to think of a really good Prince to do today. He suggested Norman Rockwell’s Self portrait. I loved it, and went for it! So thank you Kurt for the lovely idea! I really want the last illustrations to be veeeery nice…as Borat would say! I forgot all the details in this painting. Clips of artwork from Durer, Rembrandt, Picasso, and Van Gogh he is using as reference guides. The glass of wine balanced on the book. A good challenge for a snowy day!

Then I started thinking of self portraits… What self portraits have I done? several in art school…but I have none to share. Maybe another day I will post them with some stories. All I have is this one done about a year ago.

I did this illustration as a gift for Kurt for his birthday.I need to frame it for him eventually. I think I need to re-draw myself…I can do better than that! I had Kurt take a photo of us on his birthday & then I handed the phone back to him telling him the photo looked weird (after I switched the image to the illustration I had done earlier that he knew nothing about) I thought it was pretty funny!

Only 28 left to go!!! I have emailed so many magazines,publishers,blogs, and even newspapers to hopefully have the project published. All I have received in my inbox so far is one measly rejection letter. The rejection letter was from a book publisher, whom I had doubts about the fit anyway. Hopefully I can have this project printed by someone after all the hard work I have put into it.  I’m sort of out of ideas of who else to contact. I have been making a serious effort as of the last couple weeks to push this project to the next level. Well enough with the rambling, here is this weeks illustrations!
