357-358 confessions

I must confess I have no idea what the blue animal on the left is. I  inked it in, looked at it…and died laughing. I was at my moms house having tea when I was doing the color, and I asked her what animal it looked like. She thought it looked most like a hippo. So I decided to make it blue and see if it would pass as a hippo. When I got home I posted it & minutes later I was called out by a coworker! I died laughing again. It would have been so easy to fix my “hippo”, but I gave him life.

I did this in my book “Mama Wrex” as well. There was a horseshoe crab in one of illustrations and he just looked utterly drunk. I could have fixed him, sobered him up. Nope he made it to the cover of the book. You can buy the book at Barnes & Noble with my drunk crab drooling on the cover. 🙂

& then some animals are purposly made to look crazy…..

355-356 Bubba Gump & The Bees Knees

My father always say’s his favorite movie is Forest Gump, so this one is for my Dad! He thinks its hilarious that Forest is responsible for all the historical events in the movie. Great Movie!

I love bees! I don’t know why, I always have. Sometimes I will find one trapped near the screen window, I will convince the bee to crawl on my finger or a piece of paper and set him free out the window. I have never been stung, and I am not afraid! Someday I would like to try my hand at bee keeping. I am pretty sure other people in the building I live in would appreciate me waiting until I have my own house. 🙂 Maybe I could just be like the chick from “Pushing Daisies” she had a crazy set up for her bee’s on the roof of her apartment. That was a good tv show, too bad it was cancelled!

 

353-354 Getting punked!

I used to work late nights at a CVS in Aiken, South Carolina. One night I looked up from the register and there was a man just standing waiting to get rung up. He had one singular roll of toilet paper in his hand and his wee wee was just pulled out of his zipper. I just rang him up and ignored him and his man parts. I will always wonder why, did he lose a bet. Maybe he had OCD and giving it the shake just wasn’t going to cut it. Or I was possibly just getting punked…all I know is he didn’t get any reaction out of me at all that night. I guess this is my delayed reaction. This is my nod to that dude…whatever his deal was. 🙂

And now some Wizard of Oz… this blog doesn’t have to make any sense at all…clearly!

351-352 Kentucky & Rainbows

Everyone in Kentucky is so excited for the Prince concerts! I heard they started the tour in Louisville because its the drummers hometown. I guess so many people wanted to go to the show they are having four concerts.  I went to Louisville in October for a week & a half. Before the trip I wanted to know what Louisville was known for. Apparently every one has a story  of someone they know who dated Tom Cruise at some point(Tom Cruise is from Louisville), Slugger bats, Fried Chicken, & Hunter S Thompson. I had to do a Fear and Loathing illustration even though it seems once removed from my original Kentucky concept. I loved Louisville its a very cool city! I hope everyone who gets to see Prince has an awesome time!

Lately I have been getting lots of Prince ideas from coworkers, Thats where Rainbow Brite Prince was conceptualized . Rainbow Brite had to happen! Its not often I can go full on rainbow crazy when I do an illustration !

The First Photo is from 21-C-Museum-Hotel which I loved visiting, the next photo is a view from Falls of the Ohio State Park, And the Third is from Spinellis pizzeria, awesome pizza by the way! Its not everyday you get to sit in a sick car and shove your face with pizza!

I falling a little behind on my blog…not too terrible though! Today I am posting for days 349 &350 but in actuality I am on day 354! Sometimes I choose not to photograph parts of the Prince illustrations so they look better aesthetically when I post them. When I do this though some of the little fun quirks go missing. These two are good examples!

Only 28 left to go!!! I have emailed so many magazines,publishers,blogs, and even newspapers to hopefully have the project published. All I have received in my inbox so far is one measly rejection letter. The rejection letter was from a book publisher, whom I had doubts about the fit anyway. Hopefully I can have this project printed by someone after all the hard work I have put into it.  I’m sort of out of ideas of who else to contact. I have been making a serious effort as of the last couple weeks to push this project to the next level. Well enough with the rambling, here is this weeks illustrations!

Today was freezing! The temperatures were below zero, the news said that the wind chill would feel like -30 this morning before 10am!!! I had to do the morning pick ups at work this morning at 8:30 so I bundled up three shirts, two pants, two socks, hood,head scarf,jacket,gloves & snow boots. I’m glad to be home and only wearing one layer! I wasn’t feeling that perma wedgie I had going on all day. Here is todays Prince,and I also did a Prince collage from the illustrations I did this week. I hope you all had a nice warm day! 🙂

Hi Everyone! So Yesterday my friend Shannon requested a Nutcracker version of Prince. Shannon and I went to catholic all girl school together back in the day woooo! So of course I did a nutcracker version of Prince for her! I hope you all like it, also if anyone else has any requests please feel free to drop me a line! I usually do most requests, unless you want me to draw Prince as a cannibal or something. Also Today is my friend Josh’s birthday! Happy Birthday Josh!!! Josh and I were having a couple of drinks one night and Josh blurted out “You should draw Prince every day for a year!” I am pretty sure I responded “Thats crazy, no way!” Anyways here I am on day Two Hundred and Ninety One….thanks Josh, I think. Ha ha ha

I posted a hipster version of prince and literally the second my finger came off the post button my phone went bing bing bing ! Most liked Prince illustration so far! So I created a second hipster for you all, and I would like to say thank you!!!

Sometimes I think I really want to be a hipster… but I’m totally doing it all wrong all day. Also besides listening to Prince, my taste in music is pretty bad. As for my style random would be a good descriptive word… I have some vintage cat eyes that I rock, moccasins, Dr. Martins, leggings in the winter, and fit and flare dresses the second the weather gets warmer. Ive been known to wear a little plaid from time to time but hipster I’m not. Style confused maybe! ha ha
